New Methods

One of the odd things I have heard of lately for school is the use of poker as a teaching aid. There are many schols that have installed poker tables and formed groups.

Poker helps the child develop mathmatical skills. Look at probability, relate to others. Helps them be able to read faces and have them see others.

Overall a very off idea I would think.

Staying Legal

One of the problems that we have in school is legal steroids use. Even legal one are running like crazy in the school.

I am really surprised that this is even a problem. After all the word to me is legal. If it is legal then why can it not be used.

Love of Teaching

I do love teaching. Teaching is so revitalizing. We even have some use of fitness equipment on campus.


It is so great watching these kids grow and become better at what they do. One student has gone up two and a half years in nine months in reading.

that is great. He was struggling and now he is reading so much better.

Those Days.

When I was at the last Praxis testing, i had some ask what I do. I wanted to respond with wrinkle cream reviews and you need to read.

The sad part is not that she was so old . . . she was younger then I, however, she had a hard life and you could tell. I had compassion and did not mention anything.


She said that she wanted to go into teaching to help students avoid the problems she had run into. Which makes sense to me.

Warmth or Not

Today is Easter (for the Western Church) and in South Dakota we had snow. Perhaps I should say Burr Dakota. We had a prediceted high of 43 and an actual of about 33. It was flipping cold.


I am really in need for something like a carnival cruises to somewhere warm.

It has been cold for so long and I am in real need of some serious warmth.

More Thoughts on Government

One of the problems that I see with the government is the idea of health care. I am very pro individual health insurance.

The government has no place according to the US Constitution to do anything with health care. The government needs to reduce in size and come back into to better size and reduce the deficit.

The deficit that this government has is going to hurt us. Take care of yourself, do not expect the government to help you.

After Action

I am thinking that I need to have some weight loss pills. After being in school I have gained some weight. I am really wanting to have some serious weight loss.

I spent so much time writing papers and sitting on my butt. Kinda of a bummer.

Driving

Well to make the world a better place . . . do not study while driving a car. Today, while zipping to work, someone was read a book. Another was reading the newspaper while driving!!!


Arugh. I can see the auto insurance report from that accident.


"I was a moron. I was reading while driving."

Rejected!

The Standard

There is a student that I work with who is trying to pass the Praxis. One amazing thing is the lack of bad habits she has. When you teach you set the standard. You are the example. Living off of diet pills and wheat germ does not make it.

One needs to portray at least resonable healthy living, yes i am over weight. however, she considers the starved waif look to be a virtue. Let's be real is this really healthy?



I think not.

Teching the Market

One of the odd things I had to teach recently was on the stock market. I would like to have had a futures broker to come in and explain the futures market.

The problem is that I am not to hip on futures. Of course living in SD future is rather important here.

Finding A Good Time Waster

I am really looking for a good movie. I mean what i have seen lately have been really really bad movies. I have not had one I have liked, other then Rambo (and that should say something), in a long time. Most of the movies have been about as exciting as looking for a medicare part d with my mom.

Michael Clayton

I just watched the movie Michael Clayton. This is about as stoopid as a movie gets. Of course what makes the movie really dumb is that it seems to be based on a real story. it is not.

Of course the problem is that this movie took away time from my books and personalized pens and study time.

Amazing what can get us away from the times.

Decorating Tips.

I may not be the one to give decorating tips. However, one piece of advice I received from an exmperianced teacher was to make your room yours.

He even had some really odd original movie posters all over his room. IT was the most amazing collection I have ever seen.

I have a color timeline all over my room. It streaches from one end to the next.
