Blogging With Ike

"Men give me some credit for genius. All the genius I have lies in this: When I have a subject in hand, I study it profoundly. Day and night it is before me. I explore it in all its bearings. My mind becomes pervaded with it. Then the effort which I make, the people are pleased to call the fruit of genius. It is the fruit of labor and thought." - Alexander Hamilton

Seals

It is funny to watch the State of the Union Address By Obama.

Now what was funny was watching Nacney Polesi, SPeaker of the House. I am convinced that she needs her nordictrack coupon to go with her new job.

Nancey Pelosi has been offered as job as trained seal at Sea World. She can stand and clap and hoot really well.

Finding Sanity

I have been testing the limits of my wrinkle crème recently. I am working on graduate class in history. Picked up a part in a play and finding myself busier then ever.

I then spend time watching the state of the union address and watching the comments being posted on the Facebook site.

I really do not like the state of the union shows. No one remembers these speeches. I will say this. Obama is on the conservative retoric again.

State of the Union: The Parsing Pt 1

Following is the prepared text of President Obama's State of the Union address, delivered Jan. 27, 2010, as released by the White House:

Madame Speaker, Vice President Biden, Members of Congress, distinguished guests, and fellow Americans:

So far so good.

Our Constitution declares that from time to time, the President shall give to Congress information about the state of our union. For two hundred and twenty years, our leaders have fulfilled this duty. They have done so during periods of prosperity and tranquility. And they have done so in the midst of war and depression; at moments of great strife and great struggle.

Still doing okay.

It's tempting to look back on these moments and assume that our progress was inevitable – that America was always destined to succeed. But when the Union was turned back at Bull Run and the Allies first landed at Omaha Beach, victory was very much in doubt. When the market crashed on Black Tuesday and civil rights marchers were beaten on Bloody Sunday, the future was anything but certain. These were times that tested the courage of our convictions, and the strength of our union. And despite all our divisions and disagreements; our hesitations and our fears; America prevailed because we chose to move forward as one nation, and one people.

Now this is a fun one. We did not work together at Bull Run. We were a nation divided by the power and abuse being given from Washington.

Civil rights marchers who were opposed by Democrats, including Al Gore's daddy.

We did not move forward as one. And even if we did, we trusted our leaders becasue they were able to be trusted and were not remaking the country.

Again, we are tested. And again, we must answer history's call.

How does one answer history’s call? History has yet to be created, I digress.

One year ago, I took office amid two wars, an economy rocked by severe recession, a financial system on the verge of collapse, and a government deeply in debt. Experts from across the political spectrum warned that if we did not act, we might face a second depression. So we acted – immediately and aggressively. And one year later, the worst of the storm has passed.

So this is how we are going to start, BLAME BUSH! The financial system was never on the verge of failing. Only your need for crisis. You acted and acted against the will of the people. Most people did not want your spending. Now my great grandchilderen will have to pay for it.

But the devastation remains. One in ten Americans still cannot find work. Many businesses have shuttered. Home values have declined. Small towns and rural communities have been hit especially hard. For those who had already known poverty, life has become that much harder.

This recession has also compounded the burdens that America's families have been dealing with for decades – the burden of working harder and longer for less; of being unable to save enough to retire or help kids with college.

You promised only 8% unemployment. The reason that home values are going down are simple. They are returning to the level they should be without the intervention of governemnt and the mandated sub prime loans.

Stay tuned for Part 2

How many does she have

How about this . . . for lots of fun. I feel that the President of the United States has become more and more like Cesar and the the common people of the US are the pleps. I do not even have a servant for my eczema treatments.

How can we look at this?

Michelle Obama has some personal servants. I guess we can assume that she needs a one or two. After all Mimi Eisenhower had one that was paid for out of the President's salary. Since then every first lady has had one.

The only time it was different was with Hillary Clinton who had three. Michelle has 22 servants.

$172,2000 - Sher, Susan (CHIEF OF STAFF)

$140,000 - Frye, Jocelyn C. (DEPUTY ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT AND DIRECTOR OF POLICY AND PROJECTS FOR THE FIRST LADY)

$113,000 - Rogers, Desiree G. (SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT AND WHITE HOUSE SOCIAL SECRETARY)

$102,000 - Johnston, Camille Y. (SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT AND DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS FOR THE FIRST LADY)

Winter, Melissa E. (SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT AND DEPUTY CHIEF OF STAFF TO THE FIRST LADY)

$90,000 - Medina, David S. (DEPUTY CHIEF OF STAFF TO THE FIRST LADY)

$84,000 - Lelyveld, Catherine M. (DIRECTOR AND PRESS SECRETARY TO THE FIRST LADY)

$75,000 - Starkey, Frances M. (DIRECTOR OF SCHEDULING AND ADVANCE FOR THE FIRST LADY)

$70,000 - Sanders, Trooper (DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF POLICY AND PROJECTS FOR THE FIRST LADY)

$65,000 - Burnough, Erinn J. (DEPUTY DIRECTOR AND DEPUTY SOCIAL SECRETARY)

Reinstein, Joseph B. (DEPUTY DIRECTOR AND DEPUTY SOCIAL SECRETARY)

$62,000 - Goodman, Jennifer R. (DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF SCHEDULING AND EVENTS COORDINATOR FOR THE FIRST LADY)

$60,000 - Fitts, Alan O. (DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF ADVANCE AND TRIP DIRECTOR FOR THE FIRST LADY)

Lewis, Dana M. (SPECIAL ASSISTANT AND PERSONAL AIDE TO THE FIRST LADY)

$52,500 - Mustaphi, Semonti M. (ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR AND DEPUTY PRESS SECRETARY TO THE FIRST LADY)

$50,000 - Jarvis, Kristen E. (SPECIAL ASSISTANT FOR SCHEDULING AND TRAVELING AIDE TO THE FIRST LADY)

$45,000 - Lechtenberg, Tyler A. (ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF CORRESPONDENCE FOR THE FIRST LADY)

Tubman, Samantha (DEPUTY ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR,SOCIAL OFFICE)

$40,000 - Boswell, Joseph J. (EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT TO THE CHIEF OF STAFF TO THE FIRST LADY)

$36,000 - Armbruster, Sally M. (STAFF ASSISTANT TO THE SOCIAL SECRETARY)

Bookey, Natalie (STAFF ASSISTANT)

Jackson, Deilia A. (DEPUTY ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF CORRESPONDENCE FOR THE FIRST LADY)

Now what bothers me. Is that all of these flunkies make more then teachers. Now which if more important and which can be done by more people?

The answer to the first is teachers.
The answer to the second is the flunkies assistants to the First Lady. Anyone can do the work with the first lady.

More Weight Loss

Since the top of the year I have been trying to build muscle fast to help me lose weight. I figure the more muscle I have the faster I can lose weight and the better I will feel about myself.

In any case, I hope that my weight lost will keep going. I am proud to say that the weight loss is going well and I am going to make my goal.

Have a most happy day.

Back pedaling

The election in MA this week has turned into some a serious acne nodules for the BO administration. I am amazed a the response of the political hacks.

On one side this is great news for many Senate Dems. They do not have to vote against something that will cause them to lose seats like crazy. As soon as Scott Brown was elected 5 Democrat Senators said they will not vote till Brown is seated.

In other words . . . can we have some cover so we can keep our seats.

This week has been an amazing set of circumstances politically.

Dawn is Coming!

Hope is still alive in America! Wed. will dawn a new day! Three cheers for Scott Brown! Hip, hip, hooray! Hip, hip, hooray! Hip, hip hooray!

I am almost in tears sitting here typing. I feel so relieved. I know the dems will now pull out all stops in the next few weeks!

Hooray for MA!

I never thought I would say that.

Haiti Donations

While my wife was doing her really great face cream I was watching the news.

I love Americas, we are a kind an generous people. I would love to see the top 10 countries that give money and supplies on a per capita basis. I will promise you America is the greatest giving country in the world.

Yes BO comes on the TV and tells people to donate through the government.

My problem is that the government is not a charitable institution. Unless you count on forcing donations through loss of freedom as way of giving. Plus who knows how much money will be taken out for various fees.

Most welfare takes about 66 cents out of every dollar given in direct aid. The government is a highly inefficient method of distributing money.

So if you are going to give please give directly to the Red Cross or other group.

The Stopping Buck

Well Obama has finally finally decided that the buck stops with him on the war on terror. Amazingly Obama used the word war. That I think is a first for saying the word war.

However Obama used he phrase "The Buck stops here"

The news outlets told us that JFK used this phrase after the disaster that was called the Bay of Pigs.

However . . . I love that word. It was Truman, not a Orange NJ dental implants, who dropped the first and only nuke that used the phrase. Of course that did not stop the news outlets from reading the script from the White House.

Obama prepares for Civil War?

There is a story going around about Obama ordering troops back from the field to prepare for a Civil War II. The source is found here. Now to be blunt this story is at best questionable. I would like to see it sourced somewhere else.

Why would I want it sourced. The domain is from a Jupiter FL adress. Hardly a European addy at all. I would have to classify this story as one for riding the treadmill.

Have a great day

Copyright Issues

In 1978 the democrats, being lead by Jimmy Carter, changed the copyright laws. Many many books, movies, and other items would have come out of copyright today. But the Democratic President and Congress wanted to protect Hollywood and their buddies.

So now almost everything that has ever been done is now protected by copyright making the political class richer and their corporate overloads richer.

Now I have no problem in anyway with making the people who do the works richer and letting them prosper in their works. After all a new iphone accessories or a new book should benefit the author or singer or star. But not forever and ever and ever benefiting the company.

However, who is getting rich from the Narnia books? The book company.
Who is getting rich from Heinlien books? The book company.

I will not even discuss music.

It is time to return copyright laws to something that makes sense. If it is a property it needs to be taxed. Start at 40 years old and tax the profits. I mean this is what the president wants.
