Blogging With Ike

"Men give me some credit for genius. All the genius I have lies in this: When I have a subject in hand, I study it profoundly. Day and night it is before me. I explore it in all its bearings. My mind becomes pervaded with it. Then the effort which I make, the people are pleased to call the fruit of genius. It is the fruit of labor and thought." - Alexander Hamilton

Mad Men

I have been watching Mad Men. This is an odd show about Madison Ave and advertising during the 1960s. The funny part is that this show does make smoking sexy. I even looked into an electronic cigarette.

I like the show and what it says. The 60s was a totally differing world. And amazing how so. My favorite part is where the girl comes in with a plastic bag, from the dry cleaners, over her head. The mom is far more upset with potential of dry cleaning on the ground then the bag over her head.

The Blind Side

I just got back from seeing The Blind Side movie. I am calling it my favorite non-Star Trek related movie of the year. it is really good and a joy to watch.

It tells a heartbreaking, yet feel good movie of Michael Ohrr, who can now easily now get affordable motorhome insurance. The hard part for me is that he is the type of kids I work with on a regular basis.

just prior to the movie, I was watching the kids go in and they were all given one soda and one popcorn. One of the younger kids is walking with a soda, lid, straw, and a popcorn. He had no clue how to put the lid on the soda cup, so I showed him how to do it.

Still it was a great movie and I would encourage everyone to partake of the movie.

Future Rama

Now that the Senante has voted to start debate on the health care bill the question is how far will the Harry Reid go? I love how both the house and senate hold meetings in the dead of night on weekend. Saturday at 11pm they get together to destroy companies like Blue Cross NC with newer and allegedly better laws and regulations.

I really hope that 'health care' reform fails.

Have a most happy day.

Mitchell SD Parade

In Mitchell SD on Monday, aka tomorrow, Nov 22, is the Parade of Lights. A Christmas holiday festival and parade. The only problem is trying to figure out what to eat and when. I mean the Syracuse catering that is needed and to make choices is hard. After all there is almost no time. The best part is that there will be cookies and such in the Corn Palace afterward. I am hoping to have pictures on Tuesday.

Have a great day.

Virus Killers

I work at a school that is heavy into PC use. There are 100 of 1000s of virus and spyware and worse yet malware that will affect your personal computer and destroy all you have worked on.

One friend of mine who ran without antivirus software lost everything to one of these nasty things out there. She ended up needing a whole new computer and of course she had no backup.

I always suggest to use some form of virus killer software. I like ones that are no resources hogs and kill the whole computer while it is running. That is always bad. This is really important when running on a netbook. Netbooks have limited resources and when they will die with normal packages. That is why I like the one from Sun Belt Software.

Low Resources
No System Hogging

mmm mmm mmm good software!

I hope that you have a most happy.

Running Over

I recently talked with a friend who just had a disability appeal and had to go to court and everything.

She had problems just getting there. I mean getting into the building was hard for her. After spending hours waiting her whole process was 10 minutes. The bad news is that she did not have an attorney or someone to talk for her. She was completely bowled over by the other side, the government.

What I wonder is how it would have gone differently.

Tax Indexing

For those who are thinking about going on an Outer Banks vacations, you had best hurry up and get moving. You know why? Wait . . . Wait . . . Wait for it . . .

Taxes under the house bill are no longer going to be indexed for inflation. You may say so what . . . So let me give you an example.

Now keep in mind that in 1979 a new Mustang cost $5,000 and today is about $25K. The median income in 1977 was 13,500. This means that people who earned the median income would have paid little to no tax. However, let us say that you were 48K in 1977. Then the good news is that you would be paying about 8000 in taxes.

So today the in median income is 48K. Well if we were using the 1977 tax tables, you will be paying 8K but because of indexing you are paying less then $1000.

The only good thing about not indexing taxes . . . More and more people will pay taxes.

Security and Peace of Mind

One of the things that I was looking at recently was getting a new security system. With the economy in a down the bad news is that crime is up. I would highly suggest that most people look into getting a new security system.

Statistically speaking as the economy keeps spiraling out of control more people will try to find ways to make money without a job. One of the easiest ways is to steal from homes while you are gone. This means we have to go on offense. Therefore, we need security for the home and security systems for business so out small businesses can be safe at night.

One of my good friends who owns a small bike shop just upgraded his security system. He had one of those systems that will send someone to look when there is a problem.

The best part is that for home it is only about $1 a day. I can live with that. Just dump six cafe mocha lattes a month and I am golden.

Have a great day! And, Hey let's be safe out there.

Terror Since Jan 20

I was watching my new TV set on the flat panel mount this weekend. I saw the coverage on Fort Hood.

How does this person not be a Terrorist. By definition Major Nidal Malik Hasan is a terrorist. He is an Islamic Terrorist.

What bothered me even more then the attack on one of bases was that Obama did not seem to care. He gave a shout out to someone who was not there. Then gave some pithy comments.

On the weekend of the terror attack, Congress took the opportunity to pass health care in the dead of night.

Just something to think about it.

An Odd Name For Chicken.

Now while General Tso's Chicken may not be the best best weight loss product in the world, I have to wonder why the name?

Some people ask my why do I know so much? When I find a question I look for an answer and have to come up with an answer that has to seem to be a good answer.

General Tso chicken was developed in New York City in 1977. I have to say that is really odd and of course not very Chinese.

I hope that you have a great idea.

Future Health

I am wondering what will happen with some new life insurance quotes in the future we may have to need per death life insurance. In this case we may need this insurance just to pay for medical bills. Why would need this if government health care comes to be.

The one problem that we run into is that there are death panels in Pelosi's bill. We have to worry and be concerned about our future.

Have a good day.

Reform in the Worst Ways

While we may need an implant dentist Plano to survive. I am wondering how insurance reform will allow people to survive. Many of the freedoms that we enjoy will be curtailed and limited.

There will be no other way to reduce costs other then to reduce care. After all only sick people use insurance. We must protect our freedoms. We have to contact our reps and tell them, no!

Have a great day.
