Blogging With Ike

"Men give me some credit for genius. All the genius I have lies in this: When I have a subject in hand, I study it profoundly. Day and night it is before me. I explore it in all its bearings. My mind becomes pervaded with it. Then the effort which I make, the people are pleased to call the fruit of genius. It is the fruit of labor and thought." - Alexander Hamilton

Brave Old World

I am still quite concerned about what to do with privacy. The privacy of Americans has been eroding over the years. Clinton did not help, Bush has worsened the problem. I am sure that next president will not help.

It is obvious the Dems do not care about privacy. Hollywood has Democrats in the back pocket and so what is one your computer is going to be open for govermental inspection way to soon.

I would hate to a person who is one of the drug rehabs or any other medical program. I am sure it will soon be held against you.

Alas the Brave New World is coming here.

Similar

We always get many our thoughts and ideas from TV. We see the executives with high priced contemporary office furniture and then we look at the reality of people like Sam Walton.

Sam Walton had only items that were sold in the stores. He believed in the dream of the common man. Realistic there are so few great stand outs that most of us are common. Am I common to my students? No. To my wife? No. To my kids? No.

Yet we do not want to accept that most of us fall in the 80-20 of the bell curve. Yet we dress alike and think alike.

It is time to break the mold and move on.

Justice finally served

Well we have another example of government trying to flex it's muscle milk in a not so good way.

In 1965 there was a shooting and two men were convicted when the government had plenty of evidence to exonerate them.

Yesterday they were awarded 107M dollars. In my mind this was to little.

What really does not shock me in any way is that it was a Democrat administration of terrorists that in justly incarcerated these two men.

While everyone whines about Republicans doing bad things, the ones with the large history of evil is the democrats.

Loss of my PALM

As many of you know, I like technology greatly. However, carrying it all around makes life hard. Somewhere between a laptop, a PDA, an iPod, and a cell phone my shoulder gets heavy.

I would like to combine the PDA, phone, and MP3 player into one nice unit. right now the Palm Treo 680 is the leading choice. Many of suggested a crackberry (aka Blueberry) however, I like the Palm interface and have recently lost my T3 Palm.

I will keep you informed.

Addicted to Power

I am still thinking about how the government has responsed to the terror attacks from 9-11. I am still convinced that with all that has been going on in our government. The more I see of the errosion of our liberties, the more I think the government needs an addiction treatment for the power grab.

I am hoping, though I doubtful, that our elected representives will repent and repeal the patriot act.

learning golf

I am working with a lot of people who love their Golf Equipment and go out all the time. I am really tempted, again, to learn golf to fit in.

When I was in TN i learned all about football. And the Nascar. I am still not a fan of either. However, I can watch Monday night football now and understand what is going on.

Thousandth Words

One of the great things about the Canvas on Demand groups is that you, as a regular consumer, can get a great picture on Canvas for not a lot of money.
This is tough and durable piece that will look great while hanging over the mantel or on a wall. The uses for these are great and myriad. One of the items would be used as a 50th anniversary gift or even a 20th or heck even any year. The Canvas on Demand will also make a great birthday present. If I had pictures from every year I would do an graduation present for my kids and do the collage.

Shipping is quick and you can have your canvass in just a few days.

I think the hard part is choosing where to hang the picture canvas from Canvas on Demand within the house. I have the collage from some of my favorite pictures over the past 20 years. Some are from the wedding however they all involve the family of self, wife and kids.

I am hoping that this piece from Canvas on Demand will be treasured within the family for years to come. I am hoping that the canvas tells a story of the family to the children's children and their children.

Storage

One of the hard things about this move . . . is that I am moving into a smaller location and do not have room for all my office furniture such as my desk. I have a wonderful huge desk.

So for now it will be going into storage for the short time. I am going to really miss my desk. I will bring my chair and sit in my small desk.

Have a happy day

More equipment

One of the great things about recent computers is using an external monitor.

When I started my first laptop, there was no such thing and we had a 640x480 monitor. Today I can get a great viewsonic monitor that will show all kinds of resoultion on the screen.

I am the point of not being able to live without an external monitor. I work without one at school. Grrrr.

As we try to get computer equipment I am shooting for an external monitor.

Audio Book Review

I recently took a gander at some audiobooks from www.booksfree.com website.

The first and most notable item is that there are several differing ways to get books. You can get a standard CD based book, MP3 cds or paperbacks.

My favorite way is of course MP3 CD format. I like the MP3 CD format because it is typically one cd and sometimes two CDs. Why this is good, is that there is less changing of discs, so they do not get all scratched up.

This site has a great selection of books. I looked mostly at the history books and there was a really great selection of books.

The cross section of politics was really good. Both sides were represented well.

I enjoyed looking at the Science Fiction, though I have not read science fiction in a long time.

The service is really good and they send the disks to you rather quickly and use listen then send them back.

This is really good for my long commute. In this way I can listen to a book or two a week. One comment is that you need to make sure you have a MP3 cd player. Even if you use an external player, buying the external makes it worthwhile.

overall it is really a good service and I would recommend it.

Grocery Shopping

Why does shopping have to be so hard? Can someone please tell me? I really do not like going grocery shopping.

We have gone once a month for several years. Buy everything from appples, to dog supplies, to zest.

So why do we have to have four carts? Six people eat so much for a month it is really . . . well frustrating.

Food is my single largest expense. It is above the house payment.
