Installing Starfleet Command on a Macintosh
How to install SFC on a iNtel Macintosh
The Bad News: SFC1
II, OP does not run in Parrallels virtual machine. Boot Camp requires restarts.
The Good News: There is Boot Camp. SFC II Empires At War
and SFCII OP
runs on Boot Camp.
How to run Starfleet Command on your Macintosh.
Preface: Since there is all the junk (virus, spyware et el) I do not use the Windows portion on the internet. So I DL everything on the Macintosh side first.
What you will need:
1. An Intel based Macintosh (I used a MacBook
)
2. A blank cd
3. A copy of Windows XP SP2
4. MS Direct X (I used 9.0c)
5. Patches for SFC II Empires At War
and SFCII OP

6. Boot Camp
7. A little bit of time
8. A 2 Button Mouse
What to do
1. Download and install Boot Camp I used a 9G partition, you can use as little as a 7G partition (*)
2. Install Windows XP SP2
3. Install the Apple Driver disk you will need it.
4. Install Direct X, I used 9.0c (do not use 9.0b)
a. I downloaded on a Macintosh and placed on a jump drive
5 Install SFC II Empires At War
.
a. do not install Direct X
b. I did not install any of the multiplayer items
c. you can read the read me if you want to
6. Install SSFCII OP
.
a. do not install Direct X
b. I did not install any of the multiplayer items
c. you can read the read me if you want to
7. Install SFC II EAW patch and OP
8. I did a restart
9. go to the My Computer from the start menu
10. Go to C:\Program Files
11. Choose the folder where SFC is at (Taldren)
12 Inside that folder change the view to DETAILS
13. Make the details by TYPE
14. Choose all the application and right-click to PROPERTIES (can also be had from the file menu)
15. Click on the compatibility tab
16. Choose to run as a Windows 95 program
17. Repeat for all the application associated with Starfleet Command
18. Install DirectX 9.0c
19. Go to the Start and run SFC and enter serial number and wipe out the foe.

* This step took awhile as I had to backup and reformat my main drive.
