"Men give me some credit for genius. All the genius I have lies in this: When I have a subject in hand, I study it profoundly. Day and night it is before me. I explore it in all its bearings. My mind becomes pervaded with it. Then the effort which I make, the people are pleased to call the fruit of genius. It is the fruit of labor and thought." - Alexander Hamilton

Let The Spending Begin

Oi Vey! I can here it now "GENTLEMEN START YOUR SPENDING!!!!!!!"

Well here we go. Politicians getting all excited over the possibility of spending large sums of your hard earned money (story here). The state of Louisiana is asking for stacks of cash to be sent there way in light of Katrina.

First, do not get me wrong, I am sympathetic to those who lost everything. I feel bad that six people died in the Superdome. I do regret that any of this had to take place. But the shear unmitigated gaul of the greedy swamp rats is beyond belief. The swamp rats who shall not remain nameless are Vitter and Landrieu are sitting like greedy little rats waiting to pounce on the stacks of money and SPEND SPEND SPEND!!!!! According to the Washington Post, the swamp rats want more then 16 times the amount to spend on levies then is needed. Let greed reign

The real question I think that must remain, is it worth it? Should New Orleans even be rebuilt? I am of the opinion... do not rebuild. Why you may ask. Well for starters most people have ended up somewhere else in the United States. Let them stay there. Or even have the government spend money to send them elsewhere free of charge. Cover the debts on people who did not have insurance. Pay them 20K each (that is per person including kids) and let them decide where to live. The government should clean up New Orleans and let stay fallow for at least 10 years.

Let’s be real here... will the wacky environmentalists ever allow New Orleans to be rebuilt and rebuilt the way it should be? I think not.
