"Men give me some credit for genius. All the genius I have lies in this: When I have a subject in hand, I study it profoundly. Day and night it is before me. I explore it in all its bearings. My mind becomes pervaded with it. Then the effort which I make, the people are pleased to call the fruit of genius. It is the fruit of labor and thought." - Alexander Hamilton

Found a Poem

I found a great poem online.

All I can say is that I wish a person with this much talent in writing would be in my class.

Empty Mansion

Slivers of white light intrude the room
Casting dark shadows on the cold white floors
They shatter the silence
That hovers in the air.

A grand yet vacant mansion
Covered in luxurious white embellishments
Contains a lost purpose
As well as lost inhabitants

A chill runs through the air
A soft winter breeze floats across
The stillness and empty peace
Erases the possiblity of life.

He enters the house in the middle of the night, calling out to her
Hearing his own voice echoing off the high walls
His keys and briefcase crash to the floor
When he sees the note.

He opens the door
Finds her there waiting for him
No longer breathing, no longer hoping
He should have known.

Hollow screams
Shatter the silence
That hovers in the air.

Commentary: I love how she draws us in. We are thinking maybe a ghost or something scary. Yet the wife (I assume) has killed herself. And he screams. Ending just as it started. I wonder why did he know she was going to do this.

Great poem, the writer should be proud of herself.
