"Men give me some credit for genius. All the genius I have lies in this: When I have a subject in hand, I study it profoundly. Day and night it is before me. I explore it in all its bearings. My mind becomes pervaded with it. Then the effort which I make, the people are pleased to call the fruit of genius. It is the fruit of labor and thought." - Alexander Hamilton

A New Call on Nov. 5th

Written Sunday, on the 5th of November.

Dear Readers,

This election of 2006 has given me much to think about. I am now truly getting afraid of that jack booted thugs will come through my door and a black bag will be placed over my face and wipe me out as if I had never been.

I have seen and can recall every election since 1972. I look back as a student of history. I look back as a person who truly cares about this country. I look back as a person who wants change.

In 1976 a bright, happy cheerful peanut farmer ascended to the reigns of powers. What were the results of this election? The same as it has been since FDR: personal rights decreased, privacy decreased and federal spending increased.

In 1980 with the hostage crisis looming in the background Ronald Reagan was elected into office. People were thrilled there was a change and he was welcomed with cheering and happiness. There was a promise of a new day. There were a few changes. Nothing significant. And federal spending increased and personal rights decreased. People were thrilled there was a change. There was a promise of a new day.

In 1992 there was the end of the recession that fall and a new regime took over. Many people were thrilled with the change and there was cheering and happiness. Again, personal rights decreased, privacy rights decreased and federal spending increased.

In 1994 a regime change happened on the Hill. There was cheering and happiness. As time moved forward personal rights decreased, privacy decreased and federal spending increased.

In 2000 we had the second most contested election (1876 being the first and a true travesty) and we had a regime change again with much cheering and happiness. A plane flew into a building and everything was said to have changed. However three things were left the same: personal rights decreased, privacy decreased and federal spending increased.

On Tuesday, a new regime will come to the Hill (I will be shocked if I am wrong) and it will be greeted with much cheering and happiness. I am wondering what the change will be: personal rights decreased, privacy decreased and federal spending increased.

The 2006 election has convinced me that we must have a viable third party. I do not see the Republicrats or the Democians providing a way out. We must have an alternative.

Today on the 5th of November.

Remember, remember the 5th of November.
